I like the term "conspirituality." Unfortunately, modernity has made the traditional stories that gave our lives meaning obsolete. Humanity is hungry for meaning. We need a new story that explains the world around us and our place in that aligns with scientific knowledge. Until that happens, I'm afraid that cults will continue to flourish.
