This is a very thoughtful and very thought provoking assessment of an event that has prompted far too many knee jerk reactions. Thanks for taking the time to think it through and also to connect the dots for over privileged middle aged, middle class, straight white guys like me.

It seems that men are instinctively protective of the women they love and that women appreciate that trait. However, I think Will Smith could have channeled that instinct into something more appropriate like taking Chris Rock aside privately backstage and explaining why his joke was in poor taste,

Even so, not even God can change the past. Will Smith is making amends and trying to learn from it and move on. The rest of us probably should too.
